My complaint is with American Suzuki Motor Corporation.
3251 East Imperial Highway
Brea, Ca 92822-1100
I have a 2002, Suzuki 50 HP outboard four stroke motor.
(Vin # 05001F 251862.) (MODEL #DF50TLK2 )
Sold by Bluewater ob & Tech sv Inc, dba B.O.A.T.S, 4710 Post Rd Charlestown, R.I. 02813-3183, now out of business.
On August /25/08 I purchased this motor used from
Chris Dennemy, 5 Gobeille Drive, Hope Valley, RI 02832.
This motor has a GE extended warranty that expires 3/23/08. I used this boat for one hour on Labor Day weekend. And a malfunctioned occurred. This motor has a serious mechanical failure. (Water in the lower crankcase oil)
On Sept. 24, 08, I was charged $404.70 dollars for diagnostics, by a local Suzuki dealership, Atlantic Boats, Wareham, Ma.
The diagnostics is received were, I quote, “We have no idea what’s wrong with your engine, buy a new one.” I immediately called Customer Service California, 714-572-1490. And demanded that I receive a complete and accurate diagnostics for the money I was charged for service. Customer service California, stood by Atlantic Boats, Wareham Ma. Dealer’s statement.
I received no detailed paperwork on this repair. After many phone calls to Suzuki California customer service pleading for information, I was told the compression was good in all three cylinders. The engine has very low hours; the computer readout shows 42 hours.
I am dissatisfied with American Suzuki Motor Corporation and Atlantic Boats of Wareham costly service. I am very dissatisfied with no disclosure of information about the diagnostics of this motor.
After many phone calls, and talking directly to many other Suzuki dealerships, and Suzuki customers, I have discovered many Suzuki customers have experienced this same manufacturing defect. Ocean water is corrupting the lower crankcase oil. I even have documentation another motor sold by the same authorized Suzuki dealer: Sold by Bluewater ob & Tech sv Inc, dba B.O.A.T.S, 4710 Post Rd Charlestown, R.I. 02813-3183, now out of business.
Purchaser; Jason Williams, Make: Suzuki, Model# DF50TLK2, VIN 05001F251810".
Complains about the exact same problem, a Suzuki outboard four stroke with low hours; water in the lower crankcase/.
Mike, Owner /Operator of Shamrock Marine Services, 8266 Riverside Dr.., Pasadena, Md 21122, (410-360-8840), has informed me this Suzuki out board motor DF model series has a “well documented lower block manufacturing defect” Also, American Suzuki Corporation has many documented customer repairs of this same manufacturing defect, paid for in full by Suzuki!.
Mike was kind enough to take this case to American Suzuki Corporation on my behalf and asked that a goodwill warranty be applied as the engine has a common, well documented manufacturing problem that Suzuki is well aware of!. American Suzuki Motor Corporation stands by their original statement, and denied any goodwill warranty/.
I demand that American Suzuki Motor Corporation repair or replace this motor free of any charges/.
American Motor Corporation is conducting business unlawfully, by operating in violation of unfair and deceptive business practices;.

| 1. Written by mike on December 27, 2008 from johannesburg, gauteng, ZA Defective manufacturing of this motor is the culprit. This defect is well known among many mechanics and dealers, and everyone is tight lipped about it. As a consumer I paid a boat load of money for diagnostics, and was denied any answers. And Then costly repairs on this motor, re: head gasket, and recondiioned head. `Useless repairs that would have been avoided if I knew of this manufacturing defect of the lower block problem before hand. Also. Why does Suxuki deny knowlege of this defect? Suzuki does not stand by their products. As a manufacture that is marketing suicide. |
| 2. Written by Larry on December 26, 2008 from monroe, connecticut, US You bought a used motor. The factory warranty is probably non-transferrable. However, you have an extended GE warranty. Why aren't you on the phone with GE?? GE will only cover what they outline in the extended warranty policy (which I assume is transferrable to you). Be sure to read the fine print... I don't work for Suzuki...but I do work on boats.... |
